The Francis Faki Amanquah Foundation (FFAF) has been established to provide scholarships to young Ghanaian women entering their second year at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi, Ghana.
These 3-year full-scholarships will be awarded to students with excellent academic credentials, but lack the financial means to achieve the dream of attending and graduating from university with a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
The Foundation is registered in the USA as a 501c3 Not-For-Profit organization
Our goal is to be a resource to the young Ghanaian women who dream of studying computer science and computer engineering but have demonstrated financial need.
We want to provide these girls with scholarships to fulfill that financial need as well as mentorship that allows them to build futures where their dreams can lead to positive change for the STEM field.
The young ladies will apply for the funds with an explanation of the need. A committee will shortlist candidates based on set criteria by the Foundation with input from the university. Awards will be made based on the verification of the stories/circumstances.
Applications will be available either on the KNUST website or the FFAF website. Once awards are made, the girls will be assigned to mentors and the connections made before the start of the academic year. The mentors will also be selected based on criteria set by the Foundation. All young ladies will also receive a laptop for use during their course
